Autumn Yoga & Seasonal Cooking Retreat

Come and join us on a beautiful farm in the Belgian countryside is the perfect setting for you to practice yoga, meditate and participate in healthy cooking workshops that teach you how to prepare healthy, seasonal, nutritious food. Our yoga programme we will be offering morning dynamic seasonal yoga and a special yin yoga session in the evenings that incorporate massage. The yoga will be complemented by our 5 elements seasonal cooking sessions, which will be a veritable celebration of local, seasonal and nutritious food. You will be guided through hands-on cooking lessons and discussions where you will create balanced, nutritious and healthy meals that are as delicious as they are good for you. Either join us for full board and accommodation or drop-in as a day visitor. We look forward to seeing you!

Indrani Lodge is located in the centre of a triangle that places the centre of Brussels, Brussels International Airport and Brussels South Airport all within 35 minutes away. Apart from being easily reached by plane, the Eurostar provides easy access from nearby cities like London, Paris and Amsterdam. The location of Indrani Lodge places a welcome distance between you and the hustle and bustle of the city, yet is close enough to maintain a sense of connectedness and access to both Europe and the world with convenience and ease.

What to do

Once here, you find yourself surrounded by verdant green space and the sounds of nature. Whether you are attracted by unspoiled walks or horse-rides through rural farmland, ancient abbeys, historical battle sites or a round of golf at one of a number of nearby courses, Indrani is the perfect launchpad from which to explore the area.

Yoga & Meditation

Each day will start with a 15 minute mindfulness meditation followed by a dynamic Yang flow yoga class. In these sessions you will be encouraged to breathe as you move from pose to pose. These classes can be adapted to any level from beginner to a more seasoned practitioner. The evening will conclude with a very special restorative Yin class that includes individualised massage. Yin Yoga is slow paced where poses are held for longer inviting deeper relaxation.

Cooking Workshops

We live in a society dominated by stress and eat foods replete with chemicals, pesticides and lacking nutritional value. This leaves us with no energy at best and ill and allergy- stricken at worst. It is important that we eat real food, incorporate more plants into our diet and learn how to prepare nutritious meals that are free of pesticides, chemicals and food that promotes inflammation. During the cookery course Vanessa will guide you through this process. She will help you understand the truth about fat, sugar and superfoods, as well as teach you techniques that can boost the nutritional value of your food. In a very hands-on way you will prepare some of your own meals, sourcing many of the ingredients from the farm’s own organic garden. You will leave you feeling informed and inspired, with a new toolset in your knapsack. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, mediterranean, paleo, keto, have food intolerances such as gluten and any other food plan we are happy to adapt.

Healing Massage

We offer different kinds of massage therapies at Indrani. Its great opportunity to take some some time out for yourself to nourish yourself over the weekend retreat. Massage has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, relax muscles, rehabilitate injuries, reduce pain, and promote overall health and wellness. During our retreat you will have the option of booking a massage. Please inform us ahead of time if this is something that would interest you.

The Team

Vanessa Jaich – Yoga Teacher & Nutritional Chef
Vanessa co-founded ‘AIR’ yoga studio in Cape Town. She subsequently trained in culinary Nutrition as a Natural Chef at CNM (College of Naturopathic Medicine, London) and is a certified Health Coach. With over 18 years of experience in the practice and teaching yoga and now combining nutrition using food as medicine. Vanessa is currently working as a private nutritional chef in London. She also coaches people with various health conditions to incorporate tailor-made eating plans for healing.

Paul Brumwell – Massage Therapist
With over 20 years of experience in Thai Massage, Paul learned his trade from old masters. Shifting his focus to abdominal work and the Chinese Abdominal Massage of Chi Nei Tsang, he is dedicated to helping clients release emotional and energy blockages often held in the stomach.

Cecile Brohez – In-House Chef
Cecile spent 4 years at the acclaimed Brussels restaurant Les Filles. Here she expanded her repertoire and had the opportunity to work with products and ingredients of the highest quality. Cecile left Les Filles to start up her own catering company serving the artistic sector. Cecile’s food is creative, flavoursome, colourful and inspired by cuisines the world over.

Sandrine Herman – Yoga Teacher
Having completed a Vinyasa Flow teacher training course in the United States and an Ashtanga teacher training course in Belgium, Sandrine teaches Vinyasa Flow, a dynamic style of yoga synchronising movement and breath. Sandrine believes in each student’s potential and is passionate about sharing her knowledge of yoga and igniting this passion in others.
