A psychotherapeutic, somatic approach to exploring the nervous system patterns that shape health and wellbeing. Rooted in the work of Dr. Gabor Maté, this approach recognises that many of our thoughts, behaviours, and physical symptoms are shaped by adaptations formed in response to past experiences. Beneath our protective patterns exists a deeper intelligence, often described as self-energy, essence, or the true self, that naturally moves toward integration.
These perspectives offer another way of understanding health, helping illuminate patterns that may not always be visible through physiology alone. Rather than analysing or “fixing” ourselves, this work creates space to explore the inner landscape with curiosity and compassion. By listening to the body and the emotional patterns it carries, we begin to understand how past experiences may still be shaping present-day health and wellbeing.
Compassionate Inquiry
Compassionate Inquiry is a psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr Gabor Maté and Sat Dharam Kaur. It helps uncover unconscious beliefs, emotional patterns, and protective strategies that may be influencing our behaviours, relationships, and health. Through gentle dialogue and curiosity, we begin to explore the deeper stories and emotional imprints that may still be shaping how the nervous system responds to life today.
IFS Parts Work & Somatic Awareness
Internal Family Systems (IFS) understands the psyche as containing different “parts”. Some parts protect us from pain, while others may hold earlier emotional experiences. By bringing awareness to these inner parts and listening to the body’s sensations, impulses, and emotions, we begin to reconnect with a deeper intelligence within us. As protective patterns soften, many people begin to experience greater self-compassion.
